Responsible Gaming

Scope

This page explains what this site can and cannot do around gambling risk, and where the controls that actually manage risk are located. Everything on this site that involves real money — claiming anything from an operator, setting limits, taking a break, closing an account — happens after a reader leaves this site. This site is a set of static pages: it has no account system, no form and no server-side application, so it has nothing to switch on, check or enforce on a reader's behalf.

What This Site Cannot Do

Controls such as deposit caps, loss caps, reality checks, cooling-off periods and self-exclusion are things a reader sets up inside an account at an operator's own site. They live there because that is where the account, the balance and the settings are. This site has none of those, so it cannot switch any of them on, check whether one is active, or enforce one if a reader wants it. Nobody's age is verified here, and no gambling takes place on these pages: any age check happens at the destination, as part of that operator's own process. There is no advertising or behavioural profiling network running on this site, so nothing here is aimed at a reader because of anything they have clicked, searched or shown interest in previously.

The eighteen-and-over restriction is stated on the front page and repeated at the end of every operator listing. Each of the ten operator listings also closes with the same line: check availability and the current terms at the destination before claiming anything, because eligibility rules and terms apply there and can change without notice. Once an operator link is followed, the destination's own rules, checks and account controls take over — nothing published on this site continues to apply.

Where to Find Independent Help

Every page of this site, including this one, carries links to three independent gambling-help organisations: begambleaware.org, gamblingtherapy.org and gamcare.org.uk. These are the only outbound links on the whole site that are not commercial. Unlike the operator links, they carry no sponsored marking, they are set to nofollow, and they open in a separate tab on the organisation's own website. This site receives nothing when a reader follows one of them.

  • begambleaware.org — an independent source of help, linked on every page.
  • gamblingtherapy.org — an independent source of help, linked on every page.
  • gamcare.org.uk — an independent source of help, linked on every page.

Practical Habits Worth Setting Before Playing

The following is general practical advice and applies regardless of which operator a reader eventually chooses.

  • Decide the amount before starting. Deciding a figure in advance, away from the moment of play, means the decision is made with a clear head rather than adjusted upward once play is already underway.
  • Treat that amount as already spent. Thinking of it as gone from the outset removes the pressure to "win it back," since there is nothing left to recover.
  • Never chase a loss. Increasing a stake to recover an earlier loss usually compounds it, because the new stake is now larger than the original plan called for.
  • Keep gambling out of borrowed money. Money that is owed elsewhere carries a second cost if it is lost, on top of the loss itself.
  • Take breaks. Stepping away, even briefly, interrupts the momentum that can make continued play feel automatic rather than chosen.
  • Involve someone else early. Speaking to another person before a habit becomes costly is easier than doing so afterward, and an outside view often notices a shift sooner than the person inside it does.
